Mike Jones, CAI, BAS, GPPA is a licensed Auctioneer and Real Estate Broker in multiple states. He has conducted over 4,000 auctions since 1978, specializing in auction sale organization, marketing, management and project completion. Jones has served as President of both the National and Texas Auctioneers Associations. He won the International Auctioneer Championship (IAC) in 1998 and was elected to both the National and Texas Auctioneer Hall of Fames. In 2024 he was guest Auctioneer and contest judge at Tattersalls, Ireland and was the 2003 South African Institute of Auctioneers Convention keynote speaker. In 1999 he was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel and in 2024 received a special award for donations to the National Auction Foundation. In 1998, Mike conducted the largest surplus auction for the General Services Administration (GSA) in U.S. history resulting in $18 million dollars in gross sales. In his 45 years in the industry, he has conducted all types of machine tool, real estate and benefit and fundraising auctions. Mike owns two of the nation’s largest auctioneer training schools America’s Auction Academy in Texas and World Wide College of Auctioneering in Iowa. The schools have trained over 44,000 auctioneers collectively from the United States and around the world.
He has been featured by CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox News, Texas Monthly magazine, Texas Country Reporter on RFD-TV and hundreds of television and radio stations across the United States, British Broadcasting Corporation and Ireland Public Radio. Mike is recognized by PSI Testing Services and the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations (TDLR) as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) in all phases of the Auction Method of Marketing and has acted as an expert witness in Washington, DC, New York City and Houston, Texas. Jones attended the University of North Texas, North Central Texas College, Missouri Auction School, Indiana University, George Leonard Real Estate School and Dearborn University. Mr. Jones has taught at the University of North Texas Business School.
